Note: Same as League of Gardens, they will be streamed for free in Youtube soon so I decided to repost this.
Special Note: This note also remains unedited and unfixed. You will definitely find typos and other stuff that I’ve been too lazy to fix. LOL

With that long list of characters done. Let’s go.
The play starts with a summary of the first play, and then right into the introduction of Lilies and Huges (their enemies), and the bond that Riri and Yuyu has formed from the last play. After forming their Bond of Schutzengel, Riri became Yuyu’s Silt, who fights alongside her and supports her. The play continues after they’ve finished defeating a Large-type, and everyone praises Riri, for her now improvement in battle, and then of course, Yuyu, their strongest Lilie, that fights against Huges. Riri starts their attack as a new Huge comes, and then the OP song for The Fateful Gift play, “Kimi no Te wo Hanasanai” plays.
The story starts with Kotohi contacting someone regarding the experiments, the Gigant-types, and the continuation of the experiments. Kotohi still resents Yuyu for what happened two years ago, and at present, Riri sees Yuyu crying by herself, as she laments the death of her previous Schutzengel, Misuzu, and what happened two years ago, and why she doesn’t remember. Riri isn’t sure how to approach Yuyu when she’s like that, and gets her butt touched by the resident sexual harasser, Kaede. Fumi immediately knows that she was troubled because she was thinking of Yuyu, along with a very very rare sigh.
Riri thinks she still hasn’t activated her Rare Skill, and that she’s unsure whether she could actually be of use to Yuyu, because she was sad and does not open up to her. Everyone is surprised why she thinks that way, and so they combine answers and tell her that her Rare Skill is called ‘Charisma’. It’s a rare skill that’s extremely important to Lunatic Trancers, who use all of their magi during their berserker, and Charisma refills their Magi, and everyone within range. Fumi also mentions that it’s the same Rare Skill as Raimu from Ludovico Private Girls’ Academy, who is also Sachie’s Schwester (Ludovico’s version of Schutzengel). Fumi also mentions that it’s quite a rare skill and that having someone with that Rare Skill: Charisma, is useful in battles. Bonus: Kaede holds Riri’s hand and tells her with that she can be of use to Yuyu, happy about it, Riri turns around and escapes to see Yuyu… while Kaede smells her hands that just held Riri’s hands.
Fumi then mentions that she hasn’t been receiving transmissions from Kayo lately, and is worried… Switching to Ludovico, they sent out SOS to nearby schools, as to they are under heavy attack from Huges.
Switch to Yuyu, she’s been training with her weapon Brionac, and Mai arrives to tell her to take a break. Yuyu said it’s not enough, and Mai says that a Brionac is a Brionac, and it’s different with a Dainsleif. Two years ago, Yuyu remembers stabbing Misuzu with her Dainsleif, but she was yet to recover it. Mai said why she won’t use a new Dainsleif, but Yuyu said it could only be just that Dainsleif for her. Why it hasn’t returned to her? And that she has to remember what transpired two years ago, as well as get back her sword. Riri arrives and watches Yuyu and Mai from afar. Mai says that there are things that are better left unremembered, she looks at Riri and tells her to go see Yuyu. Riri runs to Yuyu and hugs her. She apologizes for not being able to help her on times when she’s troubled. Yuyu tells her that it is her problem, and that it’s her weakness. That she has to work hard to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen, and Riri assures her that she will not go anywhere, and that she will not die. (This is why you have so many death flags, Riri…)
Ludovico continues fighting the barrage of Huges around their school as they are assisted by Aoi and Yuzuriha. After a while, Yurigaoka finally receives the SOS from Ludovico. They wonder about why they are under attack. Since it’s Sachie’s school, Mai wanted to send an expedition to help. Tazusa says that there’s a lot of Enhanced Lilies in Ludovico, same as her. Immortal Lilies who are enhanced to fight Huges. The problem with Enhanced Lilies is that they attract Huges, but are never attacked by them, and that because there’s plenty of them in Ludovico (such as Yuria), it may be the reason. Tazusa mentions that she’s always wanted to die, but she could not. Because she became an Enhanced Lilie because she almost died (same as Yuria), and that because of that, the only way to kill an Enhanced Lilie is to kill them like they are a Huge, because they are Enhanced using the cells of Huges, that treat them like they’re comrades. As a fellow Enhanced Lilie, Tazusa wanted to join the expedition, and of course, Riri said, and confirmed with everyone, that Hitotsuyanagi Corps will be doing the expedition to help. Mai talks to Riri alone, and tells her that Kotohi will be there, and that she may remind Yuyu again about what happened two years ago. Riri promises Mai she will never leave Yuyu’s side and take care of her. Mai entrusts Yuyu to her as they thumbs up each other.
Kotohi is then caught practice fighting with Chikaru, a new member from Kazuha’s newly formed legion: Hervor. Ran meets Kotohi and joins in this ‘practice fight’ and tests Kotohi. But they were stopped by the rest of Hervor, Yo and Renka. They’ve picked up Kotohi and have joined forces to find Sachie. Then Ran calls Kotohi “Kotopi”. Kotohi receives a contact, and Gozen appears, fighting a Gigant-type, and strikes Yuyu’s Dainsleif onto it, living it there, as part of her plans. Kotohi finishes reporting to Gehena, and Gozen says she’s finished her preparations as well for their plans and looks forward to it.
Aoi, Yuzuriha, and Tsugumi, the Funada Twins with Tomoshibi arrives for help. Tomoshibi introduces herself as someone who joined Kiito and Ui, and calls Kiito ‘oneesama’. Which Ui mentions that she does only of her own accord, and that Kiito is nothing to her. Since a Gigant-type has arrived, they’ve all confirmed they need to use the ‘Neinberth Tactics’ to finish them. Not long after Hervor arrives and introduces theirselves. Once they’ve agreed, Tomoshibi calls out Kotohi for pretending to be weak. She says that Kotohi’s good at it, that she won’t get in the way of her revenge, but if she touches Kiito, she will not forgive her and cut her into pieces.
Hitotsunayagi Corps arrives in the scene and immediately sees the Gigant with Yuyu’s Dainsleif on it. Caught up in her emotions, she reaches for her Dainsleif, goes into berserk and activates Lunatic Trancer as she aims and attacks the Huge in a rush. She gets pushed back and everyone backs up Riri as she runs over to Yuyu’s side in an attempt to calm her down. Yuyu fights against Riri and clashes weapons as Riri activates her Rare Skill, Charisma, and gets her trance under control. Yuyu confirms that it is her Dainsleif from two years ago, the very sword she used to kill her last Schutzengel, Misuzu. Riri asks Mai, and Mai confirms that it is Yuyu’s CHARM. Thinking that, that Huge may have been Misuzu, but Mai says with confidence that it can’t be her. With this, they decide to do a Neinberth Tactics as well to finish this Gigant-type, the only way to defeat them.
Continuing on the joined forces of different schools, they fight and Ran and Raimu meet each other. Ran, a Lunatic Trancer, and Raimu, also someone who uses Charisma, holds hands and she powers up Ran by accident. Kotohi mentions that earlier, Ran said that she was never attacked by a Huge, and Kiito doubts there’s such a Lilie ever. Sachie mentions that Raimu is the same as well… and this is where they confirm that they were both Enhanced Lilies in an experiment. While Raimu’s mother was pregnant with her, her mom was injected with the cells of a Huge as part of an experiment. She grew up as an Enhanced Lilie since birth. Raimu only learned about it recently, and then suddenly it made sense why she attracts Huges, but was never attacked. Kazuha also confirms that Ran was also the same. Yuria then mentions that if Ran is the same as Raimu, then they’re all dangerous. Because that means the Huges are after them.
Aoi’s ears hears that there’s another Gigant-type headed their way. They defend as it flies by, and meets with Hitotsuyanagi Corps who were after it. Yuyu tells Sachie that they must defeat the Gigant they were running after, no matter what. Everyone else agrees, and says that they only have to do Neinberth twice. Ui says it has to be thrice, in case one of them has a Magi Reflector. But there are not enough people, Ui explains that they just have to compensate with Magi Intensity (putting out more Magi), and attacking the Gigant. They begin the Neinberth Tactics and attempt to defeat two Gigant-types at the same time. Will skip all the details here.
Miliam passes to Tazusa, after the Gigant gets hit, absorbs the damage and then explodes by itself. Tazusa immediately activates Phantasm, the Rare Skill that sees the future. It cuts there as everyone is surprised, Gozen shows up with Kotohi and praises her for protecting the ‘two princesses’ well. After Kotohi leaves, Tomoshibi appears and attacks Gozen as they fight. Later, Tomoshibi says she enjoys being an Enhanced Lilie because she finally found a person she loves. She tells Gozen she knows what she wants, and Gozen does confirm she wants Shirai Yuyu. Her heart, and her body, all of it. Gozen also mentions that they’re Enhanced Lilies, higher beings than humans, and that she does not need emotions to act. But Tomoshibi hints to her humans are emotional beings and that they decide things with their emotions. As well as that the two princess, those two who grew up and were born with the cells of a Huge. The future needs the two of them… as she aims for Shirai Yuyu.
Ludovico, Odaiba, Aoi, Hervor splits their numbers into two to do double Neinberth Tactics with Magi Intensity to defeat the other Gigant. Will skip details here as well. Although one key scene here is when Tomoshibi, also someone who holds Charisma, supports two Lunatic Trancers (the Funada twins), at the same time, while getting Tsugumi, someone with the Rare Skill Brave, along their whims, and passing towards each other multiple times to increase the Magi intensity. It is mentioned that Brave is a Rare Skill that’s perfect with Lunatic Trancers, because they double the potential and intensity of their magi and attacks that makes them more powerful. Later on they pass to Aoi, who activates Phantasm, the same as Tazusa, a rare skill that sees the future.
They all reconvene, and discover that there is a third Gigant headed their way. Yuyu says they will focus on the Gigant they were fighting and take back her Dainsleif. Kotohi then watches the scene folds, as she mentions that she’s been betrayed. That she was only told only two were summoned to attack them. And that, they were intended to kill everyone here. Yuria slaps Kotohi for her betrayal, and promises that she will not die because they need to hear her side of the story, and what she knows.
Hitotsuyanagi Corps finally completes the Neinberth and Riri passes to Yuyu. They defeat the Gigant and the Dainsleif falls into her hands, but Gozen, in a mask, arrives and holds the Dainsleif, and stabs it to herself. Yuyu is once again traumatized as Gozen takes the sword, and regenerates. She whispers something into Yuyu’s ears. She whispers Misuzu’s name and collapses. Riri rushes towards Yuyu’s side and puts her head onto her lap, as the rest of Hitotsuyanagi fights off Gozen and loses as she disappears to somewhere with Yuyu’s CHARM.
Tazusa mentions she’s sure that she’s also an Enhanced Lilie. And all of them agrees to not tell Yuyu about what just happened. Yuyu wakes up and shakes Riri, and looks for her CHARM. Mai tells her she doesn’t know where it is. Yuyu says she knows, she was sure that she held it. It was in her hands, just a little bit more she could remember… She cries as she shouts Misuzu’s name and reaches for her while Riri hugs her.
First half of the play ends here.
The others continue their double Neinberth Tactics and defeats the second Gigant, as they redirect the other Neinberth to the third one. When Raimu passed the magi to Ran, before they could do their combo, Kotohi interrupts and takes it for herself. She uses her Rare Skill, that was related to a Shadow (can’t catch the name, it wasn’t also specifically mentioned). She says that this is her revenge for being betrayed, and that she will not let Gehena kill Raimu and Ran. She protects the two of them as the third Gigant attacks them, but she receives it for them. Kotohi falls, and Sachie panics. Tomoshibi mentions that Kotohi is also an Enhanced Lilie, like herself. Since they’re immortals, she just passed out. They retreat and recover for a bit, as to no one has the energy to fight another Gigant.
Tomoshibi pays Gozen a visit, and tells her that she succeeded in getting Kotohi disconnected from Gehena. Gozen said she knew that Gehena would betray Kotohi soon, but did not expect it to be this early. Tomoshibi says she’s happy now because she could be happy and be of service to the person she loves. But since Kotohi is now out of commission for a while, she looks forward to how Gozen is making her entrance, as to the work won’t be done until she makes a move.
The lilies in expedition to save Ludovico reconvene in a Cave that was owned by Gehena, as Kotohi tells everyone what she knows in silence. In summary, the ones who did the experiments on Lilies, and made the Enhanced Lilies, is the Gehena. And that they’ve been experimenting and creating Huges as well. They thought it was weird that Ran and Raimu were suddenly being attacked by Gigants despite not being targeted up until now, it was Gehena’s aim to kill the two of them. Kiito said she’s not happy with Kotohi’s aims too. Kotohi said she accepts it that no one can forgive her. Yuyu asks her, that she resents her, and if it’s related to her. Kotohi admits she wanted Gehena’s powers to get revenge on her. They meet on how to defeat the third Gigant.
They need to do another Neinberth, but everyone’s tired. They mention that the remaining Gigant seems like it absorbed Magi but was holding it in. Fumi then mentions that it must’ve over absorbed Magi, and it should just be a bit more to defeat it. After all, they didn’t pass it to nine people (Neinberth Tactics has to be passed across nine people, as it has Nein in it.) They have no choice but to attack it with all they have, Sachie then asks that everyone who can still fight should step forward. Tomoshibi says with three Charisma users, it’s possible, but she’s unsure. Raimu and Ran wants to help and do it. Tazusa stops them and says the Gigant is after them, and Raimu says it’s because of that that they should be fighting on the frontlines. Tazusa says she doesn’t know what it’s like to be born an Enhanced Lilie, but she wants to be able to reconnect them, so she wants to do her best. Riri then decides that she will participate and do it. That she can’t stand it that her fellow Lilies are suffering like this. Yuyu then also volunteers, says she could still fight, but Mai stops her and tells her that the state of her mind isn’t good. If she went berserk, she could put people in danger. Yuyu accepts this, as Kaede, and Mai, assures her that they’d both be there as well and will protect Riri for her. They were set on doing 17 passes, but Yuria decides to sit it out in case something unexpected happens, and it is now a 16-people pass.
Riri holds Yuyu’s hand and tells her that she’ll be going now. Yuyu calls for her as she leaves, and Riri promises that she won’t go somewhere far, and that she will definitely come back to her. Yuyu says that Riri has become stronger without her noticing… and all she does was to get spoiled by her. The 16 people Neinberth Tactics begins. (At this point you should be buying a LINE LIVE Stream and watching along, right?) I’m gonna skip the details here as well, and will continue on with the story. At the middle of the passing, everyone gets tired as Riri uses her Charisma to heal Raimu and Ran who has just finished their pass. She heals everyone around her, and Kiito says she’s got a formidable power, and Tomoshibi asks if she’d be okay with it. Riri heads off to the battlefield alone, inspired to be of better use to everyone else for Yuyu. She wants to become stronger for Yuyu. She gets into a pinch, and Yuyu rushes in to save her. The rest of Hitotsuyanagi Corps comes to support her. Yuyu tells Riri that she can’t risk her life for her, because eshe’s everyone’s Captain. Tazusa, and Mai, comforts Yuyu once more, that they will protect Riri for her. With the rest slightly recovering, they will act as support.
Raimu meets with Riri. Raimu heals Riri with her own use of Charisma. She tells Riri that she can’t overwork herself, because they have to stay strong and alive for the important people in their lives. Riri smiles and nods as she regains her energy. “For the important people in our lives!”
With Sachie at the 14th pass, before she could pass it over to Riri, Yuyu rushes over to her and tells her “Sachie! I… I…!” As if conversing with their eyes, that Yuyu wanted to be of support to Riri, Sachie understands, and knew what to do. Sachie passes over to Riri. Riri says it’s “Heavy…” Sachie says, “It’s heavy isn’t it? It’s the thoughts and emotions of 15 people after all. I’ve passed to you all of our thoughts… so who are you passing those thoughts to?”
Riri then talks about everyone’s thoughts, feelings, sadness, happiness, pride, arrogance, and everyone’s future, resting on her shoulders. “Who am I passing it to? Since I became a Lilie, no… ever since before that… There’s only one person! Oneesama!” Yuyu receives the 16th pass as she activates Lunatic Trancer. Gozen appears once more with a mask. Yuria and Tsugumi comes and helps hold off the Gigant as they fight Gozen. Yuyu is distracted, but she does her best to carry the 16th pass towards the Gigant. Riri protects Yuyu as best as she could as the rest of Hitotsuyanagi fights Gozen. She imitates Misuzu’s fighting style, further distracting Yuyu’s state of mind. Everyone is defeated, and Gozen gets near to Yuyu. She grabs her by the neck and lifts her up. Yuyu reaches for her Dainsleif but is overpowered. Gozen throws Yuyu forward, as Yuyu gets on her knees. Gozen raises the Dainsleif and attempts to stab Yuyu. Riri tries to protect her once more. She manages to attack her away, and then uses the last of her magi to cast Charisma for Yuyu and everyone. Yuyu looks at her hands and finds her dog tag. It was the one she exchanged with Misuzu back then. Gozen gets back up and tries to attack Riri but Yuyu protects her. She thanks Riri, and everyone, and Misuzu, because she’s finally remembered something she forgot. Yuyu passes back the magi to Riri to take care of, together with her dog tag. She says she’s okay now, and fights Gozen.
Yuyu manages to slice Gozen’s mask, and with that she escapes with Yuyu’s Dainsleif. They then continue their fight against the Gigant. Yuyu tells Riri to shoot it. But Riri said she’s not confident and can’t miss. Yujia uses what’s left of her Rare Skill with Shenlin’s assist, and tells Riri to aim at it. Riri successfully hits the Gigant and defeats it. Yuyu tells her she’s proud of her.
Kotohi throws away her head band, and Gozen gives her a new one as to Kotohi has finally severed her connections to Gehena. Gozen praises her for being able to protect the two princesses, and that she should be at ease, as to she will not let her be killed just like before. And that Kotohi’s life is only for Gozen. She apologizes for Gozen having to come and fight herself. She said that she wanted to try fighting Yuyu. She was impressed that she could dish out such strength. She wasn’t sure whether it was because of Misuzu, or was it because of her Silt, Hitotsuyanagi Riri. For now she will watch and see how she’ll grow, because the next she sees her, she will take her heart, and everything.
Yuyu then explains to Riri that the dog tag was what she and Misuzu exchanged when they formed their Bond of Schutzengel. It says “I will live to protect Yuyu.” It must’ve went in her cuffs when she grabbed the Dainsleif. When she found it, it felt like she could hear Misuzu’s voice in her ears and remembers what’s important. And that was, she will live to protect Riri, with her all, because that was what she promised to herself when she formed the bond with Riri, the thing she shouldn’t have forgotten. Yuyu thanks everyone, and apologizes for being a bother. They assure her she wasn’t, and that it was all good. She said that while she was fighting with Gozen, she smelled familiar. She assures them that she’s sure it isn’t Misuzu, but she was sure she was someone she knew/has met before.
Their fight will continue and that they will definitely see each other again. Next time they will find answers. Yuyu tells Riri that she may have to put her into danger again. Riri says that she’s okay, because she’s together with her Oneesama. Yuyu touches her hair and praises her for she’s gotten stronger. Shenlin teases Riri for when she was worried earlier that she wasn’t able to support Yuyu properly. Tazusa even adds to it that she didn’t even know she’s already awakened to her Rare Skill.
Riri gets flustered and escapes. Yuyu goes after her and holds both of her hands. She tells her that she was able to shoot properly 17 passes and defeat a Gigant by herself. And that she’s supported her so much, even way before she could even awaken to her rare skill, even if she doesn’t have the rare skill Charisma, Riri has always supported her. Riri hugs Yuyu and Fumi activates her Yuri Goggles and takes all the photos for tomorrow’s Yuri Newspaper, and Shenlin confiscates it because she should stop doing that (but no one stops Futagawa Fumi). The emergency warning rings, and Hitotsuyanagi Corps forms as they prepare for deployment.
And that’s the story of The Fateful Gift. I literally wrote mostly what happened, I’ve been writing for 2 hours, and I didn’t even notice it’s already 9pm wtf. I really enjoyed this story because a lot happened, compared to the first one which was just straightforward. In this one, we discover that Kotohi was actually a double agent, who works for Gozen, and Gehena. And who Gozen is exactly, we don’t know. For now, we still don’t know what exactly happened two years ago, but that’s the fun in it. There were also a lot of new characters introduced here, but I couldn’t highlight all of their scenes, because they were all short scenes in successions in a larger scenario. I may have as well translated the whole thing at this point, which I can’t, and don’t have the time to do so.
Below will be my impressions.
I really liked this play. Despite the limitations of COVID-19, they couldn’t all rehearse together, and some of them could only attend a few rehearsals due to other exposure to positive cases, but they were able to hold this play and that is admirable. For precautions, the whole cast wears mouth shields outside their microphones. All the attendees are also required to wear face masks, with a very strict adherance to the no touch policy entrance. You go inside, write your information on the half of your ticket, to be contacted in case someone gets sick. They spray you with disinfectant and tell you to use the alcohol. They also measure everyone’s temperature with a thermal scanner, and that was amazing. They were prepared to open with this play and I loved seeing their precautions, and that it was truthfully well planned. Of course, no one can be truly safe, and the only thing we could do, is to just… do what we can.
With that, let’s get into the content. Like I said, compared to the first one, this had a lot more plot, and that we see more of what was happening on the background. Unfortunately, there were more questions made than answers, but that’s the nature of an on-going story. Like I’ve tweeted, I can’t ship Mai with Yuyu, because I admire their friendship, which is almost in similar nature with Sachie and Yuyu’s relationship. They just look out for each other, and that’s what bros do. We also get to see more of Riri’s unconditional love for Yuyu, that no matter what is, what she thinks she is, Riri would always love and care for her, as well as a little bit into Yuyu’s views about Riri, and how she’s been taking her for granted, and that now she’s opened her eyes and sees her for who she is. Of course, her Rare Skill, Lunatic Trancer, affects the mind, and we don’t know what comes after. I didn’t include this detail in the above summary, but it was mentioned in this play that since the Funada twins both have Lunatic Trancer, the burden of the berserk is in fact, heavier than Ui, despite looking the most chill/calm outside. We could only see that rash and berserked side of her, because Tomoshibi has been making her jealous. It was a good touch. Unfortunately, it was said in the story that Kayo got injured and is currently out of commission. She didn’t die, but it was mentioned that she may not be able to come back for a while. I really like her I hope she can come back to the stage someday.
Anyway, that’s it. I really love Yuyu and Riri. I usually don’t ship the main character OTP (like HikaKaren, or HonoUmi or HonoKoto, etc to wherever I’ve been), but this franchise, I really like the main pair, so I can’t wait to see how they will move on forward, and how SHAFT will be animating their relationship. The story this time turned for the dark, with Gozen going all “I want her heart, her body, her everything.” And we all know SHAFT loves the darkness in mahou shoujos (although this isn’t a mahou shoujo). I also love the detail about Enhanced Lilies, which was only slightly touched in League of Gardens. It was a good amount of details, and I look forward to more.
Thank you for reading!
P.S. If your region has LINE LIVE, you should be able to purchase tickets locally, so please do, and support the franchise! It’s only 3300yen!
